ANTHONY P

ABOUT ANTHONY

Anthony started playing guitar at age 10. As a senior in high school, he attended the BOCES program at the Long Island High School for the Arts as a music major studying jazz guitar. Afterward, he went to Five Towns College, where he studied Jazz Theory and Classical Guitar, receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Music with a concentration in Audio Recording.

Anthony is mainly a rock/funk guitar player who is currently writing music, playing guitar, and performing in his band "The Himbams". They released their debut album "Zugargia" in June of 2019, and are currently working on more.

Anthony has been teaching professionally since our school opened in early 2013. He has brought fun and excitement to all of his student's lessons since then and continues to inspire new students every day.

How do you help students reach their musical goals?

Weekly progression in method books, working on songs and music the student is interested in, and always explaining the concepts and theory behind whatever it might be that we’re working on.

What made you want to become a teacher?

I’ve always been inspired by my past guitar teachers, and the fact I get to play and talk about music as a job to help others explore their passion for music and become the musician they want to become.

What is your favorite thing about music?

Everything about music is great, but there’s nothing quite as magical as playing with a group in the moment, feeling and being a part of that collective energy

What are your 3 favorite albums right now?

  • Blood Sugar Sex Magik - Red Hot Chili Peppers

  • Harmony of the Spheres - Exemption

  • The Beatles (White Album) - The Beatles || *Honorable Mentions*

  • Gypsy Punks: Underdog World Strike - Gogol Bordello

  • Surf Riders from the Swamp Lagoon - Messer Chups
