ABOUT RACHEL

Rachel Karmel, known on stage as KarmaRé, has been studying music for over 20 years.

She received her Bachelor Of Science in Music Education at Hofstra University in 2015. Since then, she has been with this private lesson program.

Rachel is excited and eager to teach any age. She is a believer that, no matter who you are, music is a personal experience. As a teacher/ coach, Rachel focuses on technical and literacy skills and an emotional connection to the music.

Her various experiences in performance ensembles, and as a recording artist have shaped her personally, and have also helped mold what her teaching style has become.

How do you help students reach their musical goals?

Each student has their own personal goals, and a way that we can reach them, is by setting weekly goals to then reach their bigger goal. Learning music is a life long ongoing process and every time you put in any effort, you'll get better!

What made you want to become a teacher?

Ever since I was in 1st grade, I knew that this is what I wanted to do. Either playing for myself, teaching, or performing; music is something that I've always loved and used as a way to communicate with people.

What is your favorite thing about music?

The way that no matter who you are, there is some type of music that speaks to you. There are so many different avenues in music, and everyone has their own connection to it.

What are your 3 favorite albums right now?

  • emails i can't send - Sabrina Carpenter

  • Harry's House- Harry Styles

  • Somewhere in Between - Eloise

What are your musical goals long-term?

I'd love to keep teaching privately, and keep performing Jazz/ Original music with a group.
